Feathered Fiction?
Welcome to Feathered Fiction, where one duck discovers that you don’t need a full party to have an adventure—just a solid internet connection and an AI willing to put up with your questionable dice rolls.
What’s This All About?
Here’s the thing: tabletop RPGs are fantastic, but coordinating schedules with other humans is basically an endgame boss fight that nobody wins. So I did what any reasonable waterfowl would do. I partnered up with an AI Dungeon Master and started playing solo campaigns. Turns out, it’s pretty great.
This site chronicles my adventures, campaigns, and the surprisingly deep stories that emerge when you’re playing TTRPGs with artificial intelligence. No scheduling conflicts. No pizza debates. Just me, my character sheets, and a digital DM that never complains when I want to check behind every bookshelf for secret doors.
Why a Duck?
Because I am one.
Also, it turns out that being a duck brings a unique perspective to RPG storytelling. We’re naturally curious, we appreciate a good narrative flow (water jokes intended), and we take our fictional adventures seriously. Plus, have you ever tried explaining to your gaming group that you need to pause mid-dungeon because someone’s eating crackers too loudly? Not an issue here.
The Solo RPG Experience
Playing TTRPGs with an AI DM is different from traditional group play, and that’s kind of the point. There’s freedom to explore at your own pace, dive deep into character development without worrying about spotlight time, and experiment with weird narrative choices that might derail a group game. Want to spend an entire session just talking to NPCs in a tavern? Go for it. Feel like rolling up a completely unhinged character concept? Nobody’s stopping you.
The AI brings something special too—it’s endlessly patient, adapts to your playstyle, and can generate content on the fly that keeps things fresh. Sure, it occasionally gets confused about whether your character is holding a sword or a sandwich, but that’s part of the charm.
What You’ll Find Here
I document full campaign journals, character builds that worked (and some that definitely didn’t), reflections on the solo TTRPG experience, and tips for anyone curious about trying this style of play. Some sessions are epic. Some are gloriously weird. All of them are genuine explorations of what happens when you give tabletop gaming a solo twist.
Whether you’re a veteran TTRPG player looking for a different way to scratch that narrative itch, someone who’s always been curious about tabletop games but intimidated by the social logistics, or just wondering what a duck does with their free time—welcome. Pull up a chair, grab some dice, and let’s see where the story goes.
After all, the best adventures are the ones you actually get to play.
Hope you have fun. I know I did.
Love, a lone duck.
